The changing environment for fuel cells in buildings
Governments, both local and national, are increasingly keen to reduce the carbon
footprint of new and existing buildings and are now introducing legislation to
encourage the use of new technologies and energy saving measures. Incentives are
also being put into place that could transform the economics of clean and renewable
technologies, including fuel cell CHP systems. This session will address the potential
impact of government legislation and incentives on stationary fuel cell systems and
how manufacturers are responding to this.
Topics that would be relevant to this session include:
- Micro CHP
- Uninterruptible Power Supplies
- Co-generation
- Distributed Energy
- Integration with renewables
Hydrogen and Fuel Technology
The reforming of natural gas and other organic compounds provide the hydrogen
used by most fuel cell systems today. Papers and posters are also invited for Grove 11
on the production of hydrogen from renewable sources including wind, solar, biofuels
and organic waste. Papers on the distribution and storage of hydrogen will also be
considered.
Topics that would be relevant to this session include:
- Hydrogen
- Hydrogen infrastructure
- Biofuels
- Waste-to-Energy
Vehicles
There is growing demand for electric drive zero-emission vehicles, including hydrogen
fuel cell hybrids. Interesting concepts include fork-lifts, fleet delivery vehicles, taxis,
buses, trucks, cars, boats and aircraft. This call is for papers on fuel cell and hybrid
vehicles showing new results on performance, lifetime, system design, applications,
demonstrations and deliveries.
Topics that would be relevant to this session include:
- Integrated systems
- Hybrids
- Competition with electric vehicles
- Auxiliary power units
Electronic and Portable Systems
The capabilities of consumer electronic devices such as laptop computers and mobile
telephones are limited mainly by their battery size and capacity. Many leading
suppliers have reached a commercial stage with revolutionary new solutions. This
session will examine the latest trends and developments in micro and portable power
sources and also power supplies for communications and information technology together with their fuelling systems.
Topics that would be relevant to this session include:
- Communications
- Battery replacement
- Consumer applications
- Military applications
Electricity Generation and Transmission
The role of fuel cell and hydrogen in base-load power generation, combined heat
and power production (including trigeneration), virtual power plants, grid integration
integration with renewables and issues regarding regulation.
Topics that would be relevant to this session include:
- Grid Integration
- Base-load power generation
- Virtual power plants
- Integration with renewables
- Regulation
- Smart Grids
- Trigeneration
